The Laurens County Sheriff’s Office Junior Deputy Program is designed for all kids between the ages of 8 to 13 years old. This program is governed by the Laurens County Sheriff’s Office with the purpose to educate children in the operations of law enforcement, first aid and survival techniques, and the history of Laurens County and surrounding areas.
The Junior Deputy Program is designed to train the youth of our county in a manner that will promote strong, solid, patriotic, law-abiding citizens that possess good moral character, integrity, trustworthiness, and the desire to perform good deeds for others. This will be accomplished by providing the knowledge and skills that will be learned as each student progresses through the program. Each Junior Deputy will be given the opportunity to see what they can accomplish for themselves, with the assistance and coaching by others that know how to complete a specific goal. Junior Deputies will work side by side with the Explorer Program and will participate in fund raisers and community events. The program will be led by members of the Laurens County Sheriff’s Office. The Jr. Deputy and Explorer programs are self supported by membership fees, monthly dues, and donations. The cost of the Jr. Deputy Program membership is $45.00 paid annually. This membership fee pays for the Junior Deputy’s uniform which consists of a T-shirt with the L.C.S.O. badge on the front and JUNIOR DEPUTY on the back and a pair of khaki or tan pants. The remainder goes into the Junior Deputy General fund to pay for field trips and supplies that are to be used during the program. |
