The Evidence Technician is a multifaceted position with many duties and responsibilities including maintaining the integrity of evidence to overseeing the law enforcement impound lot. An Evidence Technician must be very organized, and able to properly maintain paperwork. The chain of custody, and integrity of evidence is often examined in court by defense attorneys. Items must be transported to the forensics lab for processing and examination, and then stored for use in court. Once the case is through the judicial system the evidence must either be stored or disposed of in compliance with federal, state, local laws, and Laurens County Sheriff’s Office Policies.
