Several Arrested in Wattsville Community Stemming From Graffiti Investigation and One Arrested on Assault Charges
During the past few months the Laurens County Sheriff’s Office has been conducting investigations into graffiti vandalism in and around the Wattsville Community in Laurens County. As a result of the investigation, three people have been arrested and another is being sought by the Sheriff’s Office in connection with these cases. Two of the suspects arrested were 16 year old juveniles and have been transported to the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice in Columbia for their parts in the graffiti. The other suspect, eighteen year old Fabian Diaz of 10 Smythe Street, Laurens, South Carolina was taken to the Johnson Detention Center to await a bond hearing. All four males will be charged with at least three counts of Malicious Damage to Personal Property. In another incident, Thursday June 6, 2013, the 911 Center received numerous calls about a fight in progress and shots being fired in the Wattsville Community. When deputies arrived on the scene their investigation led them to a 16 year old male juvenile who was subsequently located and taken into custody. He has been charged with aggravated assault and transported to the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice to be held for a bond hearing. Other charges are possible as investigations into these incidents are ongoing.
