On Wednesday, June 5th, members of Laurens County's Special Operations Response Team (SORT) joined together with Ware Shoals School District 51 for an emergency preparedness active shooter training scenario hosted by the Ware Shoals Primary School. SORT members reviewed detailed crisis management plans with Principal Dan Crockett and District 51 Crisis Management Coordinator, Eric Cox. All parties involved agreed that teamwork and preparation, with exercises like the one conducted at Ware Shoals Primary School, are essential in ensuring that the children of Laurens County have a safe and uninterrupted learning environment. The Laurens County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to ensuring that the schools located within its jurisdiction will have the training and resources necessary to respond in the event of a crisis situation. The LCSO looks forward to participating in other similar training events at area schools.
